Jesus is Love
Jesus is pursuing your heart. Jesus, the Savior of the world, wants you. In all things He is calling you closer to Him. The Lord of Lords is fighting for your relationship. The great “I AM” longs for communion with you. Jesus, the breaker of chains and renewer of hearts, wants to transform your life. In a culture that perpetuates the lie that a belief in God impedes on our freedom, run to the freedom He gives anyway. In your hardship and sufferings, joy and triumphs, look to Him. It is only when you understand your position before God that you’ll know your true identity and purpose in this life. In this tired culture, we need people of faith who boldly proclaim the good news—believers who are living witnesses of God’s goodness.
Amidst the swarm of erroneous ideas about who God is, our lives are called to affirm and profess the truth. The timeless truth that,
Jesus is Love
Love so beautiful, it’s baffling
Love so inconceivable and exhaustive, words are dreadfully inadequate
Love that means what it says
Love that is ever present
Jesus is Love
Love that does not manipulate, pressure or coerce
Love that does not belittle or detract
Love that honors and values
Love that consoles and protects
Jesus is love
Love that sees no shame
Love so intense and immense, the magnitude of its depth cannot be fathomed
Love that completely shatters the offense of my sin
Love that defends despite my transgressions
Jesus is love
Love that gives without counting the cost
Love that does not withhold mercy
Love that is intimately aware of my every thought, my every hope
Love that weeps and rejoices with me
Jesus is Love
Love that wants me
Love that guides me
I look at our culture and I see that our vision is destructively blurry, our arms are helplessly outstretched, yet our palms are bitterly closed. I look at our culture and I see that our ears are disastrously self-seeking and our hearts are relentlessly searching for truth to accept. I look at our culture and I see that we are longing for foundation, yet deny any structure. I see people lost in the dysfunction, people who feel helpless and adrift in the crowd, people who are searching for an authentic representation of the human person. I look at our culture and I see a need—a Savior. Every person is called to bring Jesus’ light to the world, in fact, we were made for it. We are called to let others know that we are not helplessly bound—that there is more, that we are more than what the world tells us.
Let us call upon this wandering culture and tell them that Jesus is the answer. Let us challenge them to outstretch their arms and receive His grace, to open their palms and accept life freely given. Pray that instead of being blinded by greed, we are blinded by the Savior’s transformative love. Pray that this culture would no longer be slaves to self-worship, rather be freed by surrender. We must abandon ourselves to find ourselves. Imagine a generation so struck by His goodness, so enamored by His beauty that we can do nothing but praise, nothing but exalt His name. Imagine a generation so captivated by His glory that His will is our one desire. What a wondrous responsibility Jesus has entrusted to us—to be messengers of hope. Jesus trusts us with the task. His words in John 14:12 remain true, “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these...”
